The Senior Informatics Lead for the Office of Medical Affairs will design core informatics infrastructure to support care delivery, operations, quality, education, and research in the clinical services at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC). Facilitate the use of data science tools and promote the utilization of data science and informatics to provide clarity in complex decision making and drive pragmatic performance improvement. This role will provide specialized operations research analyses on clinical systems and workflows to coordinate and improve the delivery of patient care and clinical service operations. This role will create a framework for data governance and shared knowledge repositories. Create a program for identifying and expanding the talent-base of the program through partnerships with informatics, data science, and machine learning training programs. The Senior Informatics Lead will contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the clinical services as national leaders through the creation and expansion of scholarly work. The Senior Informatics Lead will partner with all clinical services to support the delivery of innovative care models and strengthen collaboration.

This is a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of an Senior Informatics Lead, Office of Medical Affairs at Hackensack Meridian Health includes :
  • Lead system specification, workflows and documentation for new features that facilitate clinical service informatics deliverables.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to analyze data and identify trends to improve organizational performance, workflow, and clinical outcomes.
  • Manage documentation and communication for problem determination and resolution.
  • Develop required matrices for efficient patient care needs that support the mission of HUMC.
  • Identify, interpret, and understand clinical system requirements from the perspective of a subject matter expert.
  • Recommend resource planning and support needs to address efficient clinical initiatives as well as adapting and integrating current hospital processes.
  • Oversee the design and development of dashboards from analysis to implementation and assist with these duties as needed. 8. Define and develop the logic and rules for specific dashboards based on evidence-based medicine, clinical practice guidelines, national benchmarks, and departmental endeavors.
  • Develop reports for use and distribution in support of the various departmental initiatives.
  • Create ad hoc reports for clinical leadership.
  • Coordinate with clinical leadership to devise systems for efficient and intuitive database creation for departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure that systems are implemented and function under the guidance of acceptable HUMC policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the installation of software and/or hardware, where needed. Collaborate with clinical departments, both within Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) and the Hackensack Meridian Health Network (HMHN) to ensure relevant standards are met.
  • Act as a liaison between the clinical services, the Office of Medical Affairs, and the HMH DTS team.
  • Assist in the inception, development, completion and analysis of quality improvement and scholarly projects to include data acquisition and analysis.
  • Build mutual trust and encourage respect and cooperation among stakeholders.
  • Assist attending medical staff and resident physicians in performing required statistical analysis as it relates to research projects within the clinical departments.
  • Provide input to the formulation of policies and procedures, when needed.
  • Participate on specific committees as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or designee. Lead and/or participate on committees for related projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or designee.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Doctorate/PhD Degree in Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) Major
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical information systems development with extensive subject matter expertise in clinical applications, systems and knowledge of clinical operations and workflows, data sciences, database and registry management, and clinical informatics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Programming ability in SQL, Javascript.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Healthcare, clinical quality, and clinical operations experience/expertise preferred.
  • A background in research and scholarly publishing.
  • Programming ability in R, Python.
  • Project management background and capabilities.


Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Epic Clarity Data Model
  • AMIA Health Informatics Certification

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $131,144.00 Annually
