Application Process
To be considered for this position, you must complete two steps:

Apply directly with Grove City through their employment portal.
Register for the National Testing Network (NTN) Law Enforcement Exam and submit your scores to Grove City.
All applications and testing must be completed, and scores must be submitted by October 13, 2024. Additionally, the online PRADCO assessment must be completed by October 29, 2024. Candidates who pass the NTN exam must be available for the physical test on October 26 and 27, with alternate dates on November 2 and/or 3, 2024, in case of inclement weather.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be 20 years old or older at the time of application and under 35 years old at the time of appointment (December 17, 2024), unless previously appointed as a law enforcement officer.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
A valid Ohio driver's license is required.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Residency requirement: Must live within a 60-mile radius of police headquarters within six months of employment.

Job Responsibilities
Enforce laws, prevent crime, and protect life and property.
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct investigations, and gather evidence.
Issue citations, make arrests, and appear in court as required.
Prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and investigations.
Provide emergency services such as first aid.
Serve as an officer-in-charge or shift supervisor as needed.
Maintain required licensure and certifications.
Participate in specialized assignments such as bike patrol or traffic crash investigation.
Working Conditions
Exposure to hazardous materials and environments.
Interaction with emotionally distraught individuals or life-threatening situations.
Physical demands include lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
Uses various law enforcement equipment, including firearms, restraint devices, and crime scene tools.
Note: This position is classified as medium work according to U.S. Department of Labor physical demands ratings.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of law enforcement practices, criminal law, and investigation techniques.
Skill in using computers, operating motor vehicles, and handling firearms.
Ability to interpret instructions, respond to emergencies, and interact effectively with the public.
Certification Requirements:

Ohio Peace Officer Certification.
Valid Ohio driver's license with insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
